Viterbo University's College of Education, Engineering, Letters and Sciences invites applications for a half-time, non-tenure-track faculty position beginning January 2021.  Primary assignments include teaching art education and other art courses at the undergraduate level and leading community engagement activities.


We seek an educator and practicing artist with advanced academic qualifications, teaching experience, and leadership experience in community outreach through the visual arts.  This individual should have a commitment to education, to her or his artistic practice, and to mentoring students toward their professional goals in art education.  Ideal candidates will share a commitment to mentoring students and the artist-teacher philosophy, possess a deep commitment to their own scholarship and artistic practice, and have a passion for community-building and outreach through visual arts education. 


The ideal candidate will be able to teach a range of courses provided by the art department and may also serve in other areas as needed, including production of Viterbo's annual literary and arts magazine and the Viterbo University Art Gallery.


Viterbo University is a Catholic, Franciscan, liberal arts institution with an enrollment of approximately 2800 students. Viterbo is located in scenic La Crosse, Wisconsin, in the Mississippi River Valley. 

Qualifications:  The successful candidate shall have (1) a minimum of a master's level degree in art education, studio art, or a related field; (2) K-12 or higher teaching experience;. Experience leading community outreach programs in the visual arts and in online teaching and course delivery are preferred. An active history of scholarship or professional activity in these areas is considered a plus. 


Rank and Salary:   This appointment will be at instructor rank.  Salary is competitive with other private institutions of similar size.
